Thin-wall packaging molding requires extremely fast cycle times and high flow rates, placing unique demands on hot runner thermocouples. These systems need sensors with ultra-fast response to keep up with rapid temperature changes during high-speed injection. Slow thermocouples cause lag and overshoot, leading to inconsistent filling, flashing, or short shots.
High-cavitation thin-wall molds use one thermocouple per nozzle to ensure uniform temperature across hundreds of cavities. Even minor temperature differences cause visible wall-thickness variations and rejection. Mineral-insulated thermocouples with small diameters are preferred for their compact size and durability in dense layouts.
Vibration resistance is also critical due to high-speed machine operation. Thermocouples must maintain stable signals without drift during continuous, high-cycle production. Sealed connectors prevent moisture and plastic contamination. For packaging manufacturers, high-performance thermocouples directly increase output, reduce scrap, and ensure consistent product quality.
